Sidero Labs has partnered with Portainer.io, a leader in container management software,to offer a simple solution for everything from Kubernetes cluster creation to application deployment and management, using either an intuitive UI or a GitOps flow. The new integration makes on-prem and cloud Kubernetes cluster creation unified and seamless with Portainer’s management interface.
This partnership helps Portainer.io focus on application and container management and day 2 cluster operations, while leveraging Omni for cluster and operating system lifecycles. The new offering creates clusters powered by Talos Linux, delivering a secure, fast, and reliable Kubernetes-specific operating system that works on-prem or in the cloud. Customers can purchase a solutions bundle for simplified billing and management with full support for both products.
“Omni vastly simplifies the creation and lifecycle management of secure Kubernetes clusters on bare metal or at the edge, but we lacked a way to help customers deploy and manage applications on the clusters,” said Steve Francis, CEO of Sidero Labs. “Our partnership with Portainer bridges that gap, and allows enterprises deploying Kubernetes to accelerate, regardless of their level of expertise, and whether they want to use a UI or Git Ops or an API. Portainer and Sidero share a vision of API first, automated operations, but with accessible interfaces as well.”
This integration not only allows you to deploy and upgrade clusters, but it comes with automatic deployment of the Portainer.io agent to connect the cluster to the web interface. Because clusters are fully compliant Kubernetes, all of the powerful management features of Portainer.io work without modification.
Portainer allows you to manage Kubernetes users, applications, RBAC and even GitOps based workflows directly from a git repo, or by an intuitive web UI. This helps Enterprises of any size get more out of Kubernetes by reducing complexity and making it safer for anyone to create Kubernetes resources with client side validation and powerful integrations like remote pod shells.
Portainer.io demonstrated the integration at TalosCon 2024. To see the integration in action and what Portainer.io is capable of check out this video.
This partnership gives enterprises a cost-competitive, full-lifecycle alternative to other single-vendor software stacks. Customers can create bare metal Kubernetes clusters and deploy applications all in a single interface. No YAML to write, no terminals required.
